Agra – your go to wedding destination

Wedding Planner Kamalpreet Kaur of Midas Events and Planners, visits the Taj Hotel and Convention Centre, Agra and comes back pleased with the facilities it provides for a wedding.

Who can turn down an invite when the Taj invites to see Taj! I guess I am not the only one who feel pride in visiting Taj. So here I was, the privileged one, to be invited as a wedding planner to visit this icon, thanks to Arati Thapa of Weddingfables. My excitement went many fold up once we entered this ancient city. There is a vibe difficult to describe. You enter an era. And believe me, I had no clue that the trip was  going to be the most memorable one – all thanks to Taj Hotel and Convention Centre, Agra.  I must admit, I had no great expectations when we reached the hotel. Yes I was invited by Taj Hotel and Convention Centre (which is in the vicinity of the Taj Mahal almost). But was so pleasantly surprised that the Taj Hotel and Convention Centre, Agra  team took hospitality to the next level. After all FAM’s are all being pampered. I had never experienced such a busy itinerary. Lovely welcome by the General Manager followed by a relaxing chef curated delicious menu. I completely forgot to convey that I am a vegan, yet the team ensured in minutes that I was served everything vegan, that too to my liking. Yes, unlike many hotels who give up on serving vegan barring the selected few options from the buffet. The Taj Hotel and Convention Centre, Agra team ensured that every meal of mine was special. The lunch was followed by a visit to the iconicTaj Mahal in the midst of rains followed by tasting the scrumptious street food in Sadar Bazar and not the least – the shopping. Back to the hotel, we were pampered with the a six course Indian thali-  (mine was of course vegan) at the royal Indian restaurant Daawat-E-Nawab, which was full of aroma and flavours bang on point. The pan kulfi was to die for.

Our second day was as action packed as the first. The morning started with scrumptious bhedti poori with alloo bhaji in the All Day dining restaurant Palato. I must admit I loved the space of this majestic high ceiling busy restaurant which could comfortably accommodate 100 pax in one go. And I am not praising about it just because I was served my almond milk with black coffee that too without even asking for it. I could actually spend my entire day here- it just turned out to be my favorite place in the property. We were then led by our guide for a city tour to Fatehpur Sikri and Agra Fort. The lunch was oriental- beyond expectation as once in Agra all one can think of is the good Mughlai Khana. We had no clue that our evening would end up with something special  beyond imagination – cocktails and dinner by the infinity pool – Infini-The Sky Lounge. The weather turned out to be supportive for this lovely cocktail night in the company of the GM and his sales team. A perfect venue for a sundowner party- mehendi followed by cocktails with Taj Mahal view in the backdrop.

Believe me it is a blissful morning when one wakes up to see Taj Mahal from your room, that was the view from my room. Sadly the trip was over and it was time to go home but before that me and the group wanted a full hotel tour. Now was the time to view it from a wedding planner perspective. So here is my take on it – 200 plus rooms can take care of 400++ guests (reminds me of the pre-covid destination weddings), the largest banquet can comfortably serve 700+ guest from their live kitchen, followed by another covered space for 500++ guests. Though being a box hotel, it still has two reasonably sized lawns where one can plan a welcome lunch with game stalls and mehendi wala. The property also has a secret pool with covered area which can accommodate 100 pax. With such host of facilities of dining areas and venue options, one can plan any size of destination wedding because Taj Hotel and Convention Centre, Agra.  has everything that one can ask for under one roof. After all, Agra is just a tireless three hours drive from Delhi.

And the time finally arrived to thank Taj Hotel and Convention Centre, Agra.  for its wonderful and beyond expectation hospitality. Good bye Taj– until we meet again.
