Shanti Banaras launches online studio

When Wedding Fables was invited just before the lockdown began for a trip to their weaving factory. which also included a tour of the famous ancient city we were amazed to see the quality and the variety of designs, colours and patterns. The saris and lehengas stood out for the thought process that went into each and every collection.

Among them is the collection Navarasa or the embodiment of  nine human emotions (the bhavas or the expressions) through the performing arts. It is carefully listed in the 6th chapter of Bharata Muni’s  ancient scripture, ‘Natya Shashtra’. 

Inspired by this art form Shanti Banaras launched the nine master weaves inspired from the Navarasas. With this master weaves series they also launched their online entity: Shanti Banaras Studio that will make their legendary designs available to a global audience of textile collectors.

The brand works with design themes as varied as Kilms, Pichwai, Egyptian pharaohs, interpreting each theme into a collection of nine master weave designs.
