This happy bride in her dream red Sabyasachi lehenga

Meet Pooja, one of the lucky brides who got married just before the lockdown wearing her dream Sabyasachi lehenga. Here’s her short and sweet story.
Shashank and I were a MBA romance (where else do millennials meet really) two individuals from contrasting cities of India, (yes you guess’d it right Mumbai v/s Delhi) met in Habibi Land – Dubaiii !! We dated for almost a half a decade in Dubai before we decided to tie the knot. From pursuing MBA together to now walking the path of life with each other, we’ve indeed came a long way.

During our MBA course we were given a group projects in the first semester of college and that’s when we connected, building MBA case studies to making a beautiful presentation of our horizon (it all started from here) and we became good friends. Shashank didn’t take very long to ask me out and it didn’t take long for me either to say YES. We dated for a while, had few rumbles in between too bit but kept coming back to each other. Rest as they say is history.

We wanted to have the quintessential Big-fat Indian wedding. After dating for almost a while – we wanted to enter the phase of marriage with a bang from inviting all our near and dear ones, specially our close friends from Dubai, Mumbai and Delhi; trust me it was one of those mad epic event with never ending parties which carried on till the wee hours almost when bride/groom’s next ritual was about to start.

We knew that because of the difference in our cultural backgrounds, we might be in for a somewhat intense wedding. We didn’t think we would have two, of course. Truly a two states wedding. Our families never imagined that they would ever get into a cross-cultural marriage, let alone a Marwari – Punjabi wedding. Some of Shashank’s relatives had never been exposed to other side, however they knew a little about each other’s marriage customs and rituals through movies and TV. Somethings in Marwari wedding is never ending in their diverse rituals and customs; whereas for Punjabis its chaloBhangra Pao aur Whiskey Lagao
Our families were just too excited about experiencing all of this. The couple had a fun series of events to celebrate both their cultures and families, and we thoroughly felt connected with the cheery vibes.
